Hey everybody, nothing really exciting going on right now just ready for the wonderful Christmas holiday. Can’t wait to spend time with my family on Thanksgiving Day as well as Christmas day. I do not get to see them very often because we are all very busy. There is nothing new going on with me, however, my dad will be having a total knee replacement in about 30 days. It has not worked properly since he hurt it playing high school football about twenty five years ago. My mom is doing well and she is enjoying her job as a vampire at the Red Cross. My brothers are making an attempt to stay out of trouble…we will see how long that actually lasts lol. As far as I know the rest of my family is doing well except my 83 year old great grandfather is getting evicted from his assisted living residence because he owes them big money because he has gambled it all away. Not to mention that he has been a major liar and has been very deceitful. And he wants to go live with my grandmother who is trying to move here to be with my parents and I. But because of everything he has been doing none of his children want anything to do with him. And I can’t say that I blame them. But anyway that is probably enough of me airing my families dirty laundry lol. Just another day in the life of my family…thank goodness my father’s side of the family is normal. So it’s been dark since like 6 o’clock and it has been freezing outside all day, where did summer go??? This time of year always makes me lack the motivation I need to get things done. I just want to girl up in bed and stay warm and sleep. So school is winding down for the semester, I have a few more assignments, a couple papers and tests to complete in just a few short weeks. Fun Fun I know! I am very much ready to go to bed right now because I put in extra hours at work today doing some major moves and setting displays because we were informed this morning that “company is coming tomorrow” and the funny part of all of that is that managment says that we are not going to do anything different because they are coming because we all do such a good job of getting these things done everyday but low and behold as the day goes on all of these “special” projects start popping up that need to be done before end of business today. So my body took a beating at work and my mind took a beating doing homework after work so I am exhausted.

I don’t know how everybody’s halloween was but mine was awesome. I spent a lot of time with friends and we had a blast going to various costume parties and going to our first ever Karaoke Costume Party that was a blast. I had to laugh because some guy dressed up as Billy Mays selling Oxi Clean. It was a very long weekend, very little sleep. Speaking of sleep I think I am going to get off of here and head to bed, I have to be back at work bright and early. Goodnight everyone!

Happy Halloween Everybody! I know it is a little early but it will be here before you know it. I have a whole list of plans to get done this weekend and most of them involve spending some much needed time with friends that I do not get to see very often because we are all very busy with work and some of us with school. We have a couple of costume parties to go to. This year I am a 50′s diner waitress, I love my costume it is just so much fun. Nothing really new on the work front, just tired like normal. My family is doing well I guess there are some issues that will work themselves out before too long I hope. After all of the drama in my grandma’s live over the almost the last 2 years she is finally getting to relax for the first time but she still isn’t totally out of the woods just yet but hopefully she will be very soon. School is going well I am enjoying my online classes very much but at the same time I am very much ready for the semester to be over I think this is the hardest I have worked in a long time but I think it is because I have had to rely on myself a lot more. This whole online class business requires a lot of self discipline to make sure you get your work done when it is due. My plan is to take some more online classes next semester as well. Anyway I have to run…Everyone be safe this weekend!

So another day in the live of an average hardworking college student…haha. Work has been crazy, still getting ready for that wonderful blessed season of winter!!! And my favorite holiday CHRISTMAS! I am also in the midst of planning a surprise birthday party for my best friend that her friend from arizona is flying in for barring any extreme weather, so I am very very excited about that. I can’t wait to give her the present I have been working on for over a month. I decided to make her a scrapbook of all the big things we have done in the approximately 13 years that we have been friends. I love her to death and I don’t know what I would do without her. She is my partner in crime lol.

My annoying manager is on vacation this week thank goodness. I am so excited for this weekend I have an early halloween party to go to on saturday night and a birthday party for a friend of ours as well so it should be a very entertaining weekend. And of course halloween is next weekend so another weekend of celebrating. Just have to remember to get some sleep so that I do not get so worn down that I get sick again I’m still not completely over the last cold I had.

But I guess I can relax now that everything is calming down a little bit with some of the crazy stuff my grandma has been going through lately with her crazy ex but that’s quite another story. But I’ve got to run to the store and get a few things before settling in for the night…until next time…

Well to start out today, I am very tired so I will try and writed this blog as clearly and quickly as possible unfortunatley my night will not be done until around 10. Work has been wearing me out, as I have mentioned we are setting up for Christmas and while it is a lot of fun it is also a whole lot of work. We had our first official meeting with our new assistant manager today to go over our featured items for the next three months. Oh yeah I forgot to mention I just inherited two more departments at work, I am now department manager of the automotive, hardware and paint departments. So anyway back to the meeting this guy came to us yesterday an hour before we were supposed to leave to tell us that we had to have all of this paperwork done by 1 p.m. today of course everybody was in an uproar because none of us have even had a chance to get prepared for this meeting, luckily we have all been over our departments long enough that we already knew what needed to be featured. We were so ticked off at him within 5 min of the meeting started because he was telling us everything that we already know and I don’t know about you guys but I hate being told something that I am already aware of. Anyway he said this was going to be a quick meeting because we all had to leave in an hour well needless to say Mr. Chatty Cathy talked for at least 30 minutes of that hour he hardly let us get a word in. So that was a wonderful end to my day. I’m ready for bed but I am babysitting right now then off to the gym so I can use up what ever little energy I have left. Until next time have a good one…

Hey everybody…another exciting week has gone by…not. Haha anyway, so in my last blog I told everybody about my new assistant manager, he is such a joke, I swear if he gives me thumbs up one more time I am going to scream. Now that he has been with us for about two weeks he is finally realizing that just because we are his female subordinates does not me that we are going to take any crap from him. He is starting to back down a little and dismount off of the tall white horse he rode in on lol. So work is going good for the most part really excited we are setting our Christmas decorations…YAY!!! But that is about all of the excitement that is going on there. I guess I should probably discuss some of the readings from last weeks class, they were very interesting to say the least. I love the wide variety of points of view that we receive through our text. This week in chapter 5 we discussed body image and gender. Before I begin please stop me if I get on my soap box lol. We read many articles steming from being overweight to bodily functions. The most amusing of the articles was one called “If Men Could Menstruate” it essentially talked about that if men could have periods it would be looked upon and celebrated as a right of passage rather than the dreaded “curse” for women. And that the government would create and pay for some sort of way to make the pain go away. Of course it was all in fun but if you really think about it the statements that were made in the article could definitely be true it doesn’t take a stretch of the imagination to see it happen in real life. I think that is about enough for today I am beat I have been up since 4:30 this morning I think it is time for a nap! Have a good day!

First of all a big hi and hello to everyone in cyberspace. I thought that I would share my about my lovely new manager at work. I work at Walmart, so much fun, (not) ha-ha and we just recently got a new assistant manager. He is a male in his 30’s and he stands a little over 5 feet tall or somewhere around in there. But anyway, he is one of the most obnoxious guys I have ever met. He was trying to show one of my female coworkers how to use a pallet jack and he was being quite condescending towards her by implying that she did not know how to operate this piece of machinery simply because she was a woman. That is the kicker with this guy he comes across that way to every female on our predominately female staff. The hilarious part about the whole situation is that he is considered the assistant over my area group in the store and of course the departments he is responsible for are sporting goods, automotive, hardware/paint, toys and lawn and garden. Now if you were to look at this list you would automatically say that men would typically run 4 of these 5 departments…well not in this instance. Each one of these departments is ran by a female and not just any ordinary women he got the loudest and mouthiest group of women to work with than he could every possibly imagine. We are not above letting everyone know what is on our mind or if something has been done incorrectly. So needless to say the time he spends at our store is going to be quite interesting. But it sure is going to be fun for us!

I’m not really good with blogs because I never know what to talk about. I know that we are supposed to discuss our class and how it relates to our life. We just got done studying about gender identity and its place in society. One of the main focuses was on transgender individuals in society. This chapter was quite interesting we saw a couple of YouTube videos and read many articles on the subject. Each one of these writings and videos had a unique way of stating facts and opinions on the subject.

There was a very nice poem written by Nellie Wong and her struggles growing up in America as an Asian-American. She talks about how in our American society there is a lot of emphasis on beauty as being white and blonde. I do not know if we will ever get over that stigma. But I guess that would take a lot of retraining of society to make them think something else. One of the articles was written by Anne Fausto-Sterling and her main focus was the emphasis that just having a male and female gender was not enough to meet society’s needs. She looks more into the fact that there needs to be a whole spectrum of “titles” for differences in gender. She lists things like male and female as well as hermaphrodites, pseudo hermaphrodites. Overall it was a pretty good group of reading and they touched on a lot of topics that many people would not dare touch. But I guess you have to have one brave soul out there to take that step or we would not have many of our advancements today.

Hey everybody,

I want to start out by saying that I am really enjoying this class, I kind of signed up for it on a whim. I have never taken a class having to do with women’s studies so to be perfectly honest I did not know what to expect. I am hoping that this class will open my eyes to the world around me and give me the ability to see it for what it is instead of the world’s view of how it should be. Through the readings that we have discovered so far this semester I have taken many things from them for each a different reason of course. I do not think that I will ever understand fully why there is such a double standard between women and men. I know that I have experienced it firsthand many times growing up. The rules always seemed to change after they did not affect me anymore. For example, in high school unlike most of my friends I had a “bedtime” up until I graduated. Unless I had to work I was to be home and in my room at 9 o’ clock everyday during the week and the only exception was work. I know my parents did it because they cared and all that stuff they always tell us but I think it was more of the reason that they had to be up early for work every morning so they wanted us home so that we did not wake them. But anyway, after I graduated high school I could come and go as I pleased but I always had respect and consideration for my parents. My brothers on the other hand during this entire time were out late and coming in being loud and what not. I felt it was incredibly unfair for them to get away with things that I could not. Now that I have grown up and seen the paths that my brothers have chosen to take I am kind of glad that my parents put a little more pressure on me to do well.
